Halifax, The Daily News Says
It is those fashion connotations that today's men seem no longer to shy away from. Yet, for many men, jewelry is still agog with messages concerning masculinity and class. When I was young, a man who put too much effort into his appearance was referred to as a "Dickie Dazzler," a term that was at once a shot at pretension and a question mark about sexuality and class.
The celebrity factor certainly has had an impact on that way of thinking. David Beckham is a classic example. But in the post-metrosexual era, we see even those men who culture a certain bohemian negligence adorning themselves with accessories. Think Johnny Depp or Colin Farrell at their most laid back. Browsing the blog of the Sartorialist (thesartorialist.blogspot.com), the increasing diversity of men's dress, demeanour, body-shape and accessories fast becomes apparent. As in women's fashion, the ideals are muddying and, thankfully, more choice is evolving.
So, while the extremes are there, the male bling trend is not an all-or-nothing proposition. As is the case for women's jewelry, there will be those who operate with a more-is-more philosophy when it comes to their jewels. And there are those who opt for one or two sentimental pieces. Whether you lean towards more or less, the options are certainly out there for every style of man.
Whereas Nationaljewelernetwork says Men's jewelry no longer left warming the bench --
Men's jewelry, long relegated to a distant showcase and a small part of the average jeweler's inventory, is finally getting not only respect but retail real estate.

More about Celebrity Jewelry Style at 2007 MTV Video Award

Britney was showing off a Hellmuth ring and diamond studs at the MTV Video Music Award held for the first time in Las Vegas. Jewelry trends at the awards were much less chaotic than the new format, which switched back and forth between parties in suites, a main stage, table tops, and balconies. The best dressed combined different styles of bracelets to make a unique statement. Bangles, link bracelets, pave, openwork, all were artfully stacked to show individual style. Once again, the winner of the red carpet sweepstakes is Lorraine Schwartz, jeweler-to-the-stars who also happens to be a very innovative designer, and joining her this year, her sister Ofira. Beyonce wore Schwartz’ Monkey earrings and bracelets. (The Monkey collection is inspired by the classic Barrel Full of Monkeys game, but with a lot more diamonds.) Ashanti also wore Lorraine Schwartz diamonds while Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige chose to wear the gold-intensive looks from Ofira. Other than the bracelet bandwagon, the next most important style statement was earrings. But any overall earring direction is still unclear, with hoops, studs, and chandeliers all seen at the awards. Also, as usual the Diamond Information Center had great success in placing plenty of diamond right-hand rings.

Celebrity Jewelry Style at 2007 MTV Video Award
Diamond-studded earrings, rings, bangles and bracelets continue to be a popular trend at celebrity events, but MTV awards ceremonies always bring out the big stuff -- mostly in the form of huge, glitzy pendants worn by guys. They always catch the eye of photographers. The smaller jewelry isn't as easy to focus on, but it was there in way larger numbers than the mega pendants.
