Men's White Gold Wedding Bands

White Gold Fancy Wedding Bands jewellery

White metals such as silver and palladium mixed with gold produces an alloy known as white gold. As with gold, white gold can be found in any carat measurement up to 21 carats. Basically, the amount of gold is the same but the alloy is different. White gold was originally developed as a substitute for platinum.

White Gold Interlocking for Men

Traditionally nickel was used in white gold. However, nickel is no longer used as the studies found that nickel can cause reactions with some people. Initially, white gold rings are electro-plated with another white metal called Rhodium, a metal very much similar to platinum, when they are new. This makes the white gold look whiter since the original color of white metal is slightly gray. This process is called rhodium plating. To keep a white gold ring looking new, it should be re-rhodium plated approximately each 12 to 18 months.

White gold is a common type of metal used for engagement rings. It costs much less than real gold but it is very pretty. If you choose this type of metal for an Engagement Ring make sure it doesn’t contain nickel and that it has a thick coating of rhodium on it. This will ensure the person you give it to doesn’t experience a bad reaction to it and that the shine lasts for years.

White gold men’s wedding bands are increasingly popular as they are often used to enhance diamonds and other gemstones. However, it is suggested to check with the retailer that the alloy is nickel-free.

Since the white metal is an alloy, it is very hard and durable. Hence it is preferred in the wedding bands by a number of men presently. However, there is an equal demand for cheaper alternatives to white gold than the palladium whites which are nickel-free. Many new alloys in the current market rely on manganese additions as the main whitener. Some of these are palladium-free while others are low palladium alloys. Chromium and iron can also be used as whiteners. However, they tend to be hard and so this makes it more difficult to process. However, most of these alloys are not a good white color and so require rhodium plating, and many suffer cracking problems and tarnishing.

Pearl Necklaces - Timeless Style Jewellery Collection

Jewellery Jewelry

Pearls are among the oldest known gemstones in existence, and even before diamonds were discovered pearls have been used by tribals for buying and selling goods. Today pearls are available in a variety of jewellery from necklaces to earrings. Add classic style of pearl necklaces to your jewelry collection is a good choice.

In fact the appeal of pearls lies in that they are elegant and go with almost any type of dress. From formal wear to wedding dresses pearls have a way of blending in effortlessly with almost any dress. In fact the reason why pearls are truly timeless is because pearls never have a ‘bling bling’ effect like gold and diamonds.

As a family heirloom pearls have been handed down from generation to generation for a long time now, and it is a matter of pride for a woman to receive her mother’s pearl sets. Pearls are classified based on their colour, origin and size. There are two basic types of pearls based on their origin. The first type is natural pearls; these are pearls that are extracted from oysters that are not cultivated in oyster farms. Usually natural pearls are not as big as cultivated pearls and a perfect natural pearl is very difficult to find. This is the reason why natural pearls are expensive and are a matter of pride for many women. Today a strand of matched natural pearls can cost upwards of $1 million.

Cultured Pearls are cheaper and are also larger in size when compared to natural pearls. In fact the reason why natural pearls are so expensive is that one has to search through a thousand oysters to find a perfect natural pearl. Today a majority of pearl based jewellery is made from cultured pearls, as natural pearls are expensive and are also much rarer. Pink pearls are very rare in nature and are usually cultivated.

If you are looking to buy pearl jewellery make sure you understand the origin of the pearls and also the quality of the pearl based on its size, colour and also the craftsmanship that has gone into making the necklace. Since not all pearls are the same size, a well crafted necklace usually has pearls that are matched so that the size difference is almost negligible.

Natural Pearls vs. Cultivated Pearls

Cultivated pearls are far more impressive in terms of size and colour. If you are looking for a jewellery set that can make a lasting impression, then cultivated pearls sets are a much better option. At the end of the day it all boils down to your individual taste and choice nonetheless both natural and cultivated pearls are truly timeless.

Jewelry, Chinese Cultured Pearl Necklace Jewellery

Before buying a pearl necklace, you should know something about cultured pearls. According to the Cultured Pearl Association, Pearls are judged by the following qualities:

1. Luster - Luster is both the shininess of the pear's surface and its inner glow. If you can clearly see your reflection in the pearl's surface, the pearl is of high quality.

2. Surface - No pearl is completely without blemishes - after all, it's a product of nature - but its value increases with its smoothness.

3. Shape - Most people think of pearls as being perfectly round, although no pearl is perfectly symmetrical. Generally, though, the closer a pearl is to achieving perfect roundness, the more valuable it is.

4. Color - Although we think of "pearly whites," cultured pearls actually come in many different colors, including rose, gold, and cream. The color you choose depends upon your preference.

5. Size - Pearl sizes, measured in millimeters according to their diameters, range from seed pearls (less than one millimeter) to huge South Sea pearls (20 millimeters or more). Pearl necklaces can consist of pearls all the same size, or of pearls that increase in diameter from each end, with the largest pearls in the center of the necklace.

More about Celebrity Jewelry Style at 2007 MTV Video Award

Spears los MTV Music Awards
Britney was showing off a Hellmuth ring and diamond studs at the MTV Video Music Award held for the first time in Las Vegas. Jewelry trends at the awards were much less chaotic than the new format, which switched back and forth between parties in suites, a main stage, table tops, and balconies. The best dressed combined different styles of bracelets to make a unique statement. Bangles, link bracelets, pave, openwork, all were artfully stacked to show individual style. Once again, the winner of the red carpet sweepstakes is Lorraine Schwartz, jeweler-to-the-stars who also happens to be a very innovative designer, and joining her this year, her sister Ofira. Beyonce wore Schwartz’ Monkey earrings and bracelets. (The Monkey collection is inspired by the classic Barrel Full of Monkeys game, but with a lot more diamonds.) Ashanti also wore Lorraine Schwartz diamonds while Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige chose to wear the gold-intensive looks from Ofira. Other than the bracelet bandwagon, the next most important style statement was earrings. But any overall earring direction is still unclear, with hoops, studs, and chandeliers all seen at the awards. Also, as usual the Diamond Information Center had great success in placing plenty of diamond right-hand rings.

Celebrity Jewelry Style at 2007 MTV Video Award

Diamond-studded earrings, rings, bangles and bracelets continue to be a popular trend at celebrity events, but MTV awards ceremonies always bring out the big stuff -- mostly in the form of huge, glitzy pendants worn by guys. They always catch the eye of photographers. The smaller jewelry isn't as easy to focus on, but it was there in way larger numbers than the mega pendants.

Pearl jewelry is new style jewelry

Jewellery Jewelry
Pearls will always be in vogue, whoever wears it and whatever the occasion. However, one can make it somewhat more chic and stylish by giving it a slightly modern twist. The floating pearl necklace is a sexy new style of pearl jewelry that gives the illusion of pearls suspended around your neck. In reality, the pearls are held by gold or clear synthetic cord.

Pearls are nature’s best gifts and their natural lustrous shine with many shapes and sizes make pearl jewelry unique and graceful

Pearl is a natural product of an oyster’s body defense mechanism. They grow inside their mother oysters with a shimmering iridescence, luster and soft inner glow that is unlike any other gem on the earth. When any irritant or a parasite enters inside an oyster or mollusk then the process of natural coating begins with layer upon layer of nacre inside the oyster. It is the thickness of nacre and its lustrous shine make these pearls more precious and attractive.

Pearls are perfect to be given to people who are special to you, especially your daughter. They are very timeless and versatile. These pearls are by far the oldest gem stone known in the world. They have been around for centuries already and they have been very valuable ever since. Pearl actually comes from a Latin word that means unique because there can be no two pearls that will resemble each other exactly in any way.
